From December 1, 2012 Indian Railways has made it mandatory to carry original Identity Proof for travelling in all reserved classes of railways.
List of ID Proof Documents:
- Voter Photo Identity Card issued by Election Commission of India
- Passport
- PAN Card
- Driving License
- Nationalized Bank Passbook with Photographs
- Credit Card with Photographs
- Aadhaar Card
- Photo Identity Card issued having serial number issued by Central/ State Govt. like:
- Pension Pay Order (PPO)
- Ration Card (with Photograph)
- Senior Citizen Card
- BPL Card
- ESIC I-Card (with Photograph)
- CGHS Card (with Photograph)
- Photo Identity Cards having Serial Number issued by PSUs of Central/ State Govt. , District Administrators, Municipal Bodies and Panchayat Administrators
Some Rules:
- At least one in the group on a ticket needs to carry any of the above valid ID Proof
- The ID Proof for tatkal tickets should be same as mentioned in the tatkal ticket
- Those travelling without ID proof would be considered as travelling without ticket and fined accordingly.
